Scholarships
The D9 Foundation strives to ensure that "Every graduating senior or GED recipient, who desires to continue their education may receive scholarship support upon approved application."
The Foundation hosts a variety of yearly events to raise money to fund scholarships. In addition, thanks to local individuals and businesses, over $60,000 has been awarded in scholarships to District Nine seniors every year.
Scholarship funds are invested in the Oregon Community Foundation in order to ensure continuity and fiscal responsibility. For more information about this organization, click here.
Scholarship Selection and Distribution
Students apply for scholarships with the Eagle Center at Eagle Point High School. Scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee of EPHS staff members who know the applicants well and are best able to match recipients with the criteria developed by the D-9 Foundation. No D9 Board members are involved in the selection process.
After recipients are selected, the D-9 Foundation deposits scholarship money with the School District 9 Business Office after July 1. A contract is then signed with the recipient and a parent, and proof of enrollment is sent to School District 9. The district then distributes the money to the business office of the recipient’s college. Funds are held against charges for enrollment, tuition or books by the college business office and are administered on a quarterly basis.
If a recipient is no longer enrolled in school as a full time student or does not maintain academic standing, the funds revert to the business office of School District 9 and then are returned to the D-9 Foundation.
