Olive Lansburgh / Kathy Leonard Memorial Scholarship

“If it has to do with health care or kids, I’m interested!    Olive Lansburgh was not only interested in supporting many different causes financially, but also on a personal basis, by volunteering as chairperson, secretary, or board member to follow through with her commitment.  Olive served on the Eagle Point School board for twelve years and chaired for four of those.  She was the chair of the Upper Rogue Community Health Development campaign.  Olive was an active trustee of the D9 Foundation, secretary of the Friends of the Fair Foundation, chair of a Fair Board Committee that established the fall Harvest Fair, chair of the Red Cross Education committee, steward for the American Horse Shows Association, board member of the American Royal Association, chaired the Eagle Point High School’s Agriculture Advisory Committee, Co-Chair establishing the Community Scholarship Dessert, and the list goes on!

Nancy Leonard was the owner and operator of the Upper Rogue Independent Newspaper.   She was a patriarch of the community and had a love for Eagle Point, and its schools.    

To Study: Any approved program of study.

To Attend: Any accredited vocational school, community college, four-year college or university. The school must have federal Title IV designation.

Open To: Any current-year Eagle Point High School graduate, GED recipient, Charter School graduate or home school graduate who resides and will graduate within the boundaries of School District 9. Student must have a history of exemplary voluntary community service to be eligible to apply.

Selection Based Upon: The scholarship will be awarded to a recipient with an outstanding record of volunteer (community service ) work while enrolled as a student of Eagle Point school during their 11th and 12th grades. The recipient MAY NOT be the recipient of the D9 Community Service Scholarship.  Merit, classroom and related performance, grade point average, and involvement in other school and community activities. Financial need may be used as selection criteria.  Applicants must complete the EPHS Local Scholarship application available from the Eagle Center, or online, and submit it prior to the deadline to be considered for the award.
